Search for the
Foundation

During the period from December 1977 through mid-September 1980 the author was involved in a great many prison breakouts in the nation of Peru. Specifically, in the notorious Lurigancho Center for Social Re-adaptation. An account of these events is the subject matter of two books (volumes 4 and 5 entitled Rivers of Blood and High Finance South American Style, respectively) in the autobiographical series (under which these books are found in libraries) "Idaho Smith's" Search for the Foundation.
The author was in Peru at the request of Dr. Richard S. MacNeish, then Head of the Robert S. Peabody Foundation for Archaeology on the campus of ruling class prep school Philips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts. Here MacNeish had just completed his origins of Central Andean agriculture and civilization project and I had come in to tie up a few loose "archaeological" ends having to do with early people in the New World at a site called Pikimachay Cave, near the Peruvian City of Ayacucho.
Along the way I got involved in the Peruvian civil war as the first military advisor to the People's Liberation Army of the Communist Party of Peru, Shining Path of Carlos Mariategui. Captured, I ended up in what is universally considered to be the worst prison in the Western Hemisphere.
These books were written with the assistance of many hundreds of letters numbered, dated and delivered by special courier to my wife in Los Angeles and copies of her letters to me also delivered by special courier as this was a prison with no postal or telephone service. They may be of assistance to those of you interested in real prison breaks and how to do them rather than fictional fairy tales.

For those of you  with more than a passing interest in Peruvian prison's and breakouts therefrom I refer you to the ongoing saga in Peru with its new Government in 2012 at the website Living in Peru, and to my new 800 page textbook The ABC's of Communism, Bolshevism 2012 at www.amazon.com Kindle Books where you can buy the e-book version for $2.99.
